Vintage LV luggage

When louis Vuitton in 1854 designed and introduced high end steamer trunks and luggage, I wondered if he really understood that his monogram would be possibly be one of the worlds most sought after product. His monogram label has been counterfeited by the best, sold in every market place and reproduced million of times, yet it still is one of the leading designer brands of the world. He actually produced the first designer brand in modern history and his brand is considered the symbol of status around the world. I was amazed when I very stupidly starting obsessing about owning a vintage chest to use as a coffee table, did I really understand the magnitude of owning a vintage LV chest? Is a price range of $15,000-$50,000 unreasonable for a coffee table a vintage one at that! I suppose its a lot like my no brand black luggage that goes around and around on the conveyer belt at the airport, clearly unidentified because I forgot to to add my signature, designer, gro-grain ribbon! Oh to be a star or Royalty and own such beautiful luggage even as a coffee table, maybe in my next life time :)

Lily,
Great Post, I still kick myself, in 1993 I had the oppertunity to purchase a LV truck at an estate sale for $125.00 and didn't because i couldnt think of a place to use it, I wanted it at the end of my bed as a trunk, and it wouldnt fit. it's one of the only items in my life Im angry I didnt buy. I know we shouldn't Covet items, but I sure do this one!!!

Oh I've just had a big gulp at Kate's comment Judy. Yes, LV is certainly King, I've seen the big LV travelling wardrobes in old photos sitting opened in suites on the famous old Ocean Liners. What a way to go!

A long desired object...
I too gasped at Kates post. Wish I had that good of fortune. The closest I got was one for $4500.00.

Wish I could afford one. Meanwhile I have some old vintage suitcases as bedside tables.

Followed your link from White & Wander and really enjoyed your inspired posting.

Beautiful trunks, now that is the way our special outfits should travel, in style even if our backsides are sitting in economy.

Your blog is absolutely gorgeous Lily - I have just discovered it today and if I could spend the rest of day reading it, I would. I LOVE your style.....funnily enough I have two of the books you mention on your blog - and am just about to order Vicky Archer's fabulous book - I found her blog yesterday!
Thank you, I really look forward to following your blog.

LV luggage is classic.
I saw an image of several pieces stacked up and used as a bedside table. It looked fantastic.
