Happy week-end

I'm sorry for my lack of posts and visits the last few weeks. I mentioned we are creating new systems in our business, we started by employing an operations manager (big word for me He! He!) so that all I have to do is the fun part create, buy and design. We now have a retail floor manager, decorators and admin staff that will make us "iron out our creases" so to speak and provide even better services to our clients. We want to expand and grow our interior design business to become a team of decorators. The recession is keeping people home more, they are entertaining at home, having dinner parties rather than dining at expensive restaurants. My customers are wanting us to help set an impressive dining table, add new curtains to there home, sometimes its just small little touches they are after, some wanting a complete make over. I'm just loving that are homes are becoming a place we love, not modern minimalist spaces that lack any character or style. The old crystal is coming out, linen tablecloths, candles and beautiful flowers, tables are being filled with books and family photos are back on the wall.

A home is becoming a Home! But that's just my opinion, what do you think?

I hate the reason but I love the solutions. China, linens, crystal, heck friends eating out of a take out box for that matter, it all works when you spend less money & spend more time connecting.
Good luck with your expansion & enjoy your weekend.

It is so encouraging to hear of someone hiring and expanding their business, rather than cutbacks and closures. Good for you!

And i love the fact that people are wanting to make their homes more furnished and lived in. I think the 'home' has become more portable in recent years. The 'uncluttered' look added to it's portability. I however, agree with you, and prefer a home to be more established and full of character! Great post!

I agree with you Judy. I think homes are becoming much more homey. I really don't like the starkness of modern homes.

Isn't it wonderful that homes are becoming homes again and people are entertaining at home

You have been busy busy! It is great that you are getting it all together. I agree that people are making thier homes into thier havens for sure. I do not agree however, that modern homes are not homey... I love mid century modern architecture and feel that it really depends on the person and the way they "communicate" their personal design in any space. I went and toured Frank Lloyd Wright's famed Falling Water, it is a HOME for sure! Cozy in many ways, natural materials, a waterfall beneath and surrounded by 300 acres of nature!

Congratulations on all your business strides! Looking forward to more pictures of your shop!

Fantastic news of your expansion Judy! You really are a 'Big Picture' person & that's just wonderful. I always believe in the saying about 'Identifying what it is that you do best in your business & finding the best people to do the rest.'

I really want that umbrella! I'm trying NOT to be frivalous - but the umbrella! I don't NEED it, but it sure would make things feel more "homey".
