A fabulous Kitchen

Browsing through Martha Stewart's site I fell upon her gorgeous kitchen, The beige walls against the Grey kitchen and the center bench more like a table, the crockery filled shelves is my favorite look in kitchens today. I spent all day yesterday cleaning my kitchen and wonder how many times a week I wipe down my white kitchen doors, notice a few chips on my new stone bench (they take no care) and the dishes that the kids have put away "not clean enough" the smoothie maker just rinsed but not clean...shall I go on....Mothers out there do you sympathise with me? Any way every piece in my kitchen was spotless and after 6 hours of cleaning they all came home from school hungry and totally oblivious to all my hard work made a mess and I just had to walk away I couldn't look, arrggg...

I love Martha's kitchen too but - does she use it I wonder?
I do not have children at home anymore but my kitchen gets dirty from me cooking, one clumsy husband and two little dogs!
Do not feel bad about yours - keeping a kitchen that spanking is impossible! LOL

I do sympathize but some day you will miss all those little messes, I speak from experience. Now when my two year old little grandson comes for a visit I leave his tiny hand prints on my glass doors for days and marvel over them. Enjoy the journey to a clean kitchen at the end of raising children!

Yep...I hear you. That is all I do lately is clean the Kitchen! only to have it desecrated by the Family...but like Miss Sandy said, we will all miss it when they are gone. (I don't now though). Love the top picture, she is so perfect, and her cleaners. lol

Oh yeah... that's the kitchen!!! Don't be disheartened with the cleaning. I am sure every Mum out there has those moments daily. I do. Hubby walked in the other day and said, "gee how I love how clean our house is all the time" It made my day.... and it just a rental! A-M xx

Kitchens never stay spotless. My youngest is a Weetbix thrower and dried Weetbix is the most impossible thing to clean off walls, floors and cupboard doors. And then there is the cupboard kick boards. I try not to look at them too often as they make me feel quite ill!
Can we get A-M's husband to write a book on "How To Encourage One's Wife"?!

All of Martha's stuff is perfect and gorgeous-but she has lots of help perfecting everthing. I like my kitchen but it is NEVER perfectly clean, i cook a lot so it stays a little dirty all the time. Great photos though.

I must have been living under a rock, because I have only just discovered all the beautiful blogs out there. Yours is fabulous! Not only do I love your style, I love hearing little snippets of your life - it sounds so interesting! And six kids, wow! Keep up the blogging, it really is inspiring. xx

Yes, Martha's is just about perfect and she has the help to keep it that way. But I am sure yours has more of that "real, lived in, lots of character" warmth to it.

Oh Judy - am I with you on this one! All our boys seem to be programmed with the 'can't drink out of the same glass twice' microchip.

On the very rare occasion all 5 are in my kitchen together these days, the count of used glasses on the sink can go past the 20 mark!
